Name: Andrew Lorimer, aka, Andy, aka, Lori, aka Mr
Lorimer, aka Annie
Age: 30
Weight loss to date: No idea. Not on my agenda.
Work & Life: Busy , Associate Partner in a firm of
Chartered Surveyors.
Life before ODFC: I have always been pretty active and
into outdoor sports etc. (By the way, if you don't sweat, it isn't a
sport. E.g. darts, snooker). Was heavily involved in Kung Fu when I
lived in Edinburgh, but when I moved down here, none of the local clubs
seemed to do it for me. So, I heard about the ODFC and thought I would
go and try it out as something different to keep in shape. I thought it
sounded like a good alternative option to gyms which I got bored off
long time ago. Anyway, went along for a go. Haven't looked back since!
Relationship with fitness pre ODFC: As mentioned above, always been
active and like keeping in shape. However, since joining the ODFC I have
continued to improve and am now probably at my highest fitness levels of
my 30 years so far. A massive thanks has to go out to Gary, Derek, Tom
and Ryan for always managing to push me further than I would myself. I
might not always look like I am appreciating it, and I may even throw a
few slightly abusive comments their way from time to time, but trust
me.... I do. Well lets face it, I wouldn't come back if I didn't!!
Pre conception of ODFC: I thought it was going to be full of uber-fit
types who would look down on me for not being up to their standard. Not
a bit of it though!!! I was immediately surprised by how friendly
everyone was and what a great group of people went along. I was also
surprised at how much fun it was and how it was always different. None
of the predictable same old same old.
What has ODFC done for you: Improved my fitness considerably. This
enabled me to surprise myself in the races that I enter by not being
nearly as rubbish as I thought I would be. Gained me a whole new group
of friends (whether I wanted them or not!!!.... See Peter for further
details). Generally, more than I ever imagined it would. There is a
really good social side to the ODFC which I certainly didn't expect. Oh,
it has also enabled me to get involved in some charity events. One of
which involved a sports day for comic relief which contains details that
shall not be published on this site. If you want to know, you will have
to come along and ask!.............. Also got a much coveted free
t-shirt.
Relationship with fitness since joining ODFC: It has
continued to grow closer and further into my life than I thought it
would. Which is great, but I sometimes have to be reminded to take a
break and chill once in a while.
Prospect for the future: More ODFC! Keep it coming Nasher! More
adventure races. More ODFC social events. More charity events.
Likes: Outdoors activities e.g. skiing, mountain
biking, climbing, kayaking, diving, sailing etc etc etc... you name it,
and I'll probably be up for it. Cake and the finest wines known to
humanity.
Hates: Chavs are rubbish. |
