Gary as a fully qualified military adventure
training instructor, teaching Climbing, Canoeing, Skiing and
Mountaineering during his military career, knows the benefits of
the great outdoors. To this end on the second Sunday of each
month he organises a variety of away days to get ODFC members
out, in order to try new exciting things. These can be physical
or non physical activities but always great fun.
Activities planned for the future are:
Hill Walking in the lakes
Go Kart Racing
Paint Balling
Wine Tasting
Annually we also organise week long adventures and in the past
this has included groups heading off to ski in Bavaria and
Italy, hill walking in Morocco and rock climbing in Spain and
closer to home in the Lake District Wales and Scotland. Other
events have seen smaller groups sailing in Greece. All of the
events listed above are open to non members and people with no
previous experience.
Adventure Racing
It is not unusual to see members jumping in the car on a Sunday
morning to go off and do one of the many adventure races going
on around the country. In recent months we have entered teams
into
Edinburgh Rat Race
Deerstalker Mountain Race
Tough Guy Endurance
Sunshine Triathlon
Great North Run
Some of these events would have never been considered in the
past by some clients, but due to training and encouragement from
trainers and training partners, people have gone on to complete
events that they never thought possible.
ODFC is the real deal. Gyms sell off the fact that they are
sociable, but we all know that this isn’t the case. The success
of ODFC is down to the fact that we deliver not only fantastic
fitness classes with results, but we promote the social aspect
that a lot of people want. You can choose to train only or
become part of what is more than just exercise. You can never
have too many friends!
